The Pornographer's Daughter
Art and Jim Mitchell comprised one of 20th century San Francisco's most infamous duos, The Mitchell Brothers. Emerging as pioneers in the pornography industry when they produced and directed the 1972 Rated X feature, "Behind the Green Door," starring Ivory Snow Girl, Marilyn Chambers. They rode that rags-to-riches wave from the Cannes Film Festival to First Amendment court battles over the definition of obscenity as it relates to pornography, which they beat every time. They were notorious for their social activism as well as entertaining the stream of celebrities, politicians and underground artists who flocked to the Mitchell Brother's O'Farrell Theater for the lap dances, poker games and high jinx. The party ended in February 1991 when Jim shot and killed Artie in what his defense team would call "an intervention gone awry".
In The Pornographer's Daughter, Art Mitchell's eldest child, Liberty, recounts her life from her counter-culture childhood growing up and coming of age in the wings of the porn industry, through surviving the surreal aftermath of her father's murder.
This limited engagement of The Pornographer's Daughter Los Angeles workshop production is a thought provoking, multi-media, live music experience not to be missed.
